We apologize to everyone for our poor job of keeping the site updated with all of our latest activities. I have finally gotten around to editing and posting the photos from our trip to Iowa over Christmas! We had a great time there with Sara’s family, and the girls had a lot of fun playing with all of their cousins. Check out the new gallery for all the pictures!

As you have no doubt noticed, we have a new and improved Goldberg Gang. In the spirit of the day, austerity, we have switched to a much cheaper web host and took the opportunity to redesign the site. Unfortunately, the page naming conventions for our new host are a bit different, so any bookmarks you might have will no longer work.

Also, please let us know if you have any problems with the new site, so we can make it run as smoothly as we can, and we promise to do better to keep all of you supplied with news of our latest goings-on and photos.

Amelia had a slew of first birthday celebrations (2 months ago), including a party in Iowa (3 months ago). I know that one day Amelia will go looking through this blog archive and find there is nothing in September or even October to commemorate her turning 1. I only hope she will search in November and understand how much she was loved despite our apparent inability to post in anything resembling a punctual nature.

At very long last here are just a few birthday photos.

Here she is at Martha’s looking not so sure about this whole birthday thing.

Checking out the present in the box.

Getting more excited about the gift opening process now.

She likes cake! Her “actual” birthday.

Doing it all yet again at a party with a few of her friends.

This morning Charlotte headed off for her first day of preschool! She went for a visit on Friday and found the plastic high heels, toy hair dryer, photo of earth worms, and crayons and paper (of course), so she was excited to go back for more! She bounded right into the before-care room and I had to steal a hug. Pretty exciting!

Here she is with her new “purple” backpack. You know, because purple is her favorite color. And her sparkly gem encrusted “school shoes” we got yesterday at Target. You now, because pink is her other favorite color.

And here she is outside her main classroom – the “Elmo Room” – with her hook, extra clothes bag, backpack with her “naptime buddy” strapped to the back (she insisted), etc.

Here’s to a great school year!!

Well dear readers, I have six weeks of photos, videos and stories...

Well dear readers, I have six weeks of photos, videos and stories I haven’t shared. I’ll do what I can to remedy this starting now. It’s been a little crazy around the Goldberg house lately with traveling, hard-working parents and girls who seem to be in constant motion these days. In fact, there appears to be a baby underneath my chair as I type and a big girl playing some sort of pretend scenario in her bedroom – pretty typical these days.

Amelia is totally on the move whether cruising along furniture or doing her funny crawl around the house (or attempting to climb the stairs). She likes to repeat our sounds and make motorboat noises and clap her hands and squeal with her sister. It’s noiser than it was a few months ago!

Charlotte is quite the conversationalist these days. She’s very expressive and has a truly phenomenal memory, surprising us with what she can recall from many months ago. She’s turning into a real “big girl” getting ready for bed and for the day on her own…well, when she feels like it!

Enjoy the photos below. I’ll try to share some videos in the near future too.

We hit the zoo for the first time since winter a couple weekends back and enjoyed lots of animal viewing and ice cream – which was the best part I think (we’ll it seems the girls agree).

She’s either altering her sister’s artwork or just tasting the crayons.

And finally – yes, Lea, everyone loves the Dora car!

Last week Amelia turned nine months old, became mobile(!), and had the obligatory check-up. She’s around the 10th percentile, which is lower than she was in her early months. (In fact, she’s actually smaller by weight than Charlotte was at this age, but about the same length.) However, she continues to grow, is happy and developing well so the Doc suspects she is just moving toward her petite genetic predisposition – no shocker there! We’ve been encouraged to add a little butter or oil to her veggies, keep on the whole milk yogurt, and just see where she is in three months. For the record, here are the stats:

Weight — 15 lbs 15 oz

Height/Length — 26.5 inches

Head Circumference — 43 inches

When Charlotte was about this age I shared her likes and dislikes, so I thought I’d do the same for Amelia.

Likes:

baths

books (she’s been turning pages for months – it’s hilarious!)

putting things in her mouth

opening/dumping out things (cupboards, toy bins, laundry baskets, etc)

cheese

yogurt

finger foods

bananas

mango

watermelon

chicken/turkey baby food

her lavender bear blanket lovey

What else is she up to? Well, she’s waking only once between 7 and 6/6:30 to eat, which is good enough for now. The great thing is that she almost always wakes up happy (middle of the night, mornings, post-nap), which her sister never did (and still doesn’t do). She’s getting her ma-ma and da-da and other babbles down and sort of seems to direct them to some extent. She’s doing her funny crawl, pulling up on furniture, and even stands there with only one hand (and for a second let go the other day). She beams when she sees her big sister and mostly wants to play with Charlotte’s toys rather than those silly baby rattles! She shakes her head quite adamantly when she doesn’t want to eat whatever is coming her way, and dives and squirms when she does want something – often someone else’s food, which she can’t have yet. She drinks pretty well from a sippy and gets a good amount of finger food from her tray to her mouth. She continues to be a pretty chill baby, though she makes her presence and preferences known as needed. In general, we’re completely in love with her and so glad she is part of our family!
